DIY Easter Cake decor
You’re gonna wanna save this Easter DIY.
I made this adorable Easter Candy or gift box, using a few DIY essentials.
I picked up this round wooden box from Hobby Lobby . Along with the paints and Easter crafts you see.
I used some quick dry white spackling and a putty knife, along with some cake decorating tips all from Walmart.
Let me be clear, I have ZERO cake decorating skills. So if I can do this, so can YOU!
I just simply colored the spackling the colors that I wanted (you can choose your own), and I left the base of the cake white (no color needed).
I used regular ziplock bags with the decorating tips for the different colors.
You can FULLY customize this to whatever you like. This is just a fun way to make something super unique and cute for Easter.
I filled mine with Reeses peanut butter cups, but you can fill it with whatever you’d like.
Candy dish, gift box, the choices are endless.

If you're looking to add a homemade touch to your Easter celebrations but feel intimidated by traditional cake decorating, this DIY Easter candy box project is a fantastic option to try. The clever use of quick dry white spackling colored with your preferred hues gives the appearance of frosting but is super easy to work with, especially if you have little to no experience with cake decor. Using ziplock bags fitted with cake decorating tips—a technique I found really practical—allows you to pipe out your decorative colors cleanly and effortlessly. A key tip I learned is to pick up your materials from craft stores like Hobby Lobby for the wooden base boxes, which serve as sturdy and charming canvases. Walmart is a great place to grab the spackling, putty knife, and decorating tips all in one go, streamlining your shopping process. What makes this project fun and personalizable is how you decide to fill your Easter candy box. I chose Reese’s peanut butter cups, but you could opt for jelly beans, mini chocolates, or even non-candy gifts like small toys or jewelry. It doubles as both a candy dish and a gift box, making it versatile for holiday gatherings or party favors. Additionally, coloring the spackling yourself means you can match any Easter theme or color scheme, adding a custom flair to your decor. Don’t worry about perfection—the charm lies in the homemade, imperfect touches that make your creations uniquely yours. For those who want to extend this idea, try experimenting with different shapes of boxes or even stacking smaller decorated boxes for a tiered Easter cake effect. It’s a delightful project that brings fun and festivity to your holiday while encouraging creativity and personalization.
