DIY candy jar!
This was another fun DIY candy jar craft!
Here is everything I used:
•4” clay pot
•4” clay saucer
•Glass bowl from dollar tree (look at the number on the bottom)
•Red, white, and blue acrylic paint
•Blue painters tape
•Wooden knob from hobby lobby
•star stickers
•foam brushes
•E6000 glue
•peanut M&M’s
Here’s how I did MINE. You can do YOURS however you’d like, any variation. Make sure you have small paint brushes to correct mistakes (it happens). When dealing with paint and tape, sometimes it’ll bleed which is ok. Make sure it all dries before taking off the stickers and tape!! Happy crafting

Creating a DIY candy jar like this patriotic-themed craft is such a rewarding project, especially around Independence Day. When I first tried making a similar jar, the key was choosing the right materials. Using a 4-inch clay pot and saucer provides a sturdy base that can be easily painted and decorated. Dollar store glass bowls are great for the lid—just be sure to check the bottom for any recycling numbers to ensure durability. One thing I learned is that using painter's tape is essential to achieve clean paint lines, although sometimes a little bleeding is inevitable. Don't worry; it adds character and makes your jar uniquely yours! I recommend applying two thin coats of red, white, and blue acrylic paint for vibrant colors. Let each coat dry fully before peeling off tape and star stickers to get crisp edges. When attaching the wooden knob as a handle on top, E6000 glue is the strongest option and will keep it secure for long-term use. For filling, peanut M&M’s not only add festive colors but also provide a tasty treat. If you’re making these jars with kids, consider using non-peanut alternatives for allergies. Lastly, this craft is highly customizable—you can swap colors, use different kinds of candies, or add other decorative elements such as ribbons or glitter to suit your style and holiday décor. As someone who enjoys seasonal crafts, I find this project perfect for bringing a bit of holiday spirit into everyday home settings. Plus, it makes an excellent handmade gift that's both practical and charming. Overall, have patience with the drying and detailing steps, and don't stress over minor painting mistakes—they often add to the charm of a homemade project. Happy crafting and enjoy your festive candy jar centerpiece!
