✨Got into Art School✨

It’s been a fat minute and I missed it here so much!!

👏🏼I have been so busy:) I pushed myself into art school! It’s called Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, RMCAD!!!

🙌🏼These are the pieces I just made last week for a Big to Small project:) I also got 100% on them so a girl feels on top of the world haha.

👀these pieces are controversy because my professor told me to make my own theme… which was really hard. Soo these are supposed to express climate change and the first four show heat waves and greenhouse gases. I like drawing nature and so this was the only thing I could find for a theme.

I hope everything is going well for all of you🫶🏼🥰

... Read moreGetting into art school has truly been an eye-opening experience, stretching my understanding of creativity and technique far beyond what I initially imagined. My recent 'Big to Small' project, which focused on climate change, really pushed me to explore how scientific concepts can deeply inform and enrich artistic expression. It wasn't just about drawing what I saw; it was about delving into the science of global warming, understanding the visual impact of heat waves and greenhouse gases, and then translating that complex data into compelling visual narratives. This process of blending analytical research, much like a scientist would conduct, with my artistic interpretation, felt incredibly powerful. Learning how to convey such critical messages through visual metaphors and compositions has become a core 'technique' I'm embracing in my studies. My professors at RMCAD are constantly encouraging us to experiment with different methods to communicate profound ideas. For instance, we've explored how specific color palettes can evoke a sense of urgency or despair related to environmental issues, or how varying textures can represent the degradation or resilience of nature. Each new 'technique' feels like acquiring a new vocabulary for my art, allowing me to speak more eloquently about the themes I care about. It's about moving beyond mere replication and into interpretation, where scientific understanding acts as a springboard for artistic innovation. This interdisciplinary approach, drawing knowledge from both science and art, is not only rewarding but also feels essential for creating art that truly resonates in today's world. It shows me how powerful it is when I can 'look what I created' and see a deeper meaning embedded within it. While my current focus in art school is heavily rooted in traditional mediums like painting and drawing, I find myself increasingly fascinated by the evolving landscape of digital art. The world of 3D VTuber creation, for example, is a captivating frontier where traditional art skills meet cutting-edge technology. Even though my current projects don't involve 3D modeling, the foundational principles I'm mastering – anatomy, perspective, color theory, and composition – are absolutely crucial for building any compelling visual, whether it's on a canvas or rendered in a virtual environment. Imagine precisely understanding how light falls on a form, or how to create a sense of depth; these are skills directly transferable to sculpting a realistic 3D character or designing their virtual wardrobe. I often think about how artists bridge the gap between classical training and these innovative digital fields. The attention to detail I cultivate in capturing human form or natural landscapes can directly inform the intricate rigging and texturing required for a VTuber model to move and express emotions authentically. My art school journey isn't just about showing what I've created today; it's about building a versatile toolkit that will allow me to explore and excel in diverse artistic domains tomorrow. The prospect of applying these traditional art techniques to create immersive digital experiences, whether through 3D animation, interactive installations, or character design, is incredibly motivating. It reminds me that every sketch, every color choice, and every concept I grasp now is a step towards a future where my creativity can manifest in truly innovative and impactful ways.
