Tiktok overhyped this $8.29 Dubai Chocolate cake!
Nothing Bundt Cakes recently came out with a Dubai Chocolate flavor and as a big chocolate lover I just had to try it! I also picked up a classic lemon flavor, since I knew with how rich their chocolate cakes tend to get, I’d probably want a palate cleanser. Altogether, it was $15 for the both of them.
When I got it, the employee told me to not refrigerate it (or let it thaw a bit if I did refrigerate it) because the pistachio in the middle may get hard. To be honest, she didn’t even need to tell me that because I scarfed it down as soon as I got home! But it’s good to keep in mind if anybody else wants to try it.
I think the Dubai Chocolate was a bit of a miss for me. Here’s my breakdown:
Visuals: 7/10
I thought the edible gold on top was cute, but I wanted more of an emphasis on the pistachio/tahini paste/crispy kataifi since that’s what makes Dubai Chocolate special. There is actually pistachio+phyllo mixture in the middle, but you can’t see it from the outside. Unfortunately, I think that makes it a bit boring. That being said, I love the look of their bundt cakes in general - something about the shape is really cute to me.
Taste: 6/10
The chocolate was good - that’s to be expected. I liked how it had chocolate chips/chunks throughout as well. However, everything else was disappointing. The only part that has pistachio/phyllo mixture is the middle, which means you have to make sure to portion it out or you won’t get pistachio/phyllo mixture with every bite. There was also barely any pistachio flavor. While pistachio is a pretty mild flavor, I couldn’t taste it at all, so it was pretty much just another texture.
Overall: 6.5/10
Although it didn’t taste bad overall, I wasn’t sure if it was worth $1.26 more than a normal chocolate flavored cake. I think I actually enjoyed the lemon a lot more - so no hate to Nothing Bundt Cakes, just thought this flavor wasn’t their best!

So, you've heard about the viral Dubai chocolate trend, and like me, you were probably curious when Nothing Bundt Cakes announced their take on it. I recently grabbed their new Dubai Chocolate bundtlet alongside a classic lemon bundtlet, eager to see if this trending flavor lived up to all the buzz. I wanted to share a bit more about my experience and some extra tips you might find helpful if you're thinking of trying it too! The viral 'Dubai chocolate' trend has captivated many, largely due to its unique combination of textures and flavors. Imagine a rich chocolate shell encasing a creamy filling, often made with pistachio or tahini, studded with crunchy elements like roasted nuts, crispy kunafa (kataifi), or even crunchy biscuit pieces. This delightful contrast is what makes the original bars so addictive. Nothing Bundt Cakes' Dubai Chocolate bundtlet aims to bring this experience to a cake format, featuring a distinct pistachio/phyllo mixture nestled within its core. It's a fascinating concept to adapt into a bundt cake, and part of the excitement is seeing how they interpret these trending flavors. Beyond just taste, how you handle and store your bundtlets can really impact your enjoyment. The staff member's advice about not refrigerating the Dubai Chocolate flavor was spot on. Cold temperatures can make the delicate pistachio/phyllo mixture in the center become quite firm, altering the intended soft, slightly chewy texture. If you do end up refrigerating it, definitely let it come back to room temperature for at least 30-60 minutes before serving. This allows the cake to soften and the flavors to truly bloom, ensuring you get the best possible experience from both your Dubai Chocolate bundtlet and any other flavor, like the refreshing lemon bundtlet. While the buzz around the Dubai Chocolate bundtlet is undeniable, it's worth remembering the extensive variety of delightful options Nothing Bundt Cakes offers. Beyond trendy flavors, their core lineup includes classics that consistently win hearts. For instance, the lemon bundtlet I also tried was a fantastic palate cleanser – bright, tangy, and perfectly moist. Many customers rave about their Red Velvet, Carrot Cake, and White Chocolate Raspberry flavors. Each bundtlet is crafted with their signature cream cheese frosting, making them a consistently indulgent treat. So, if the Dubai Chocolate doesn't quite hit the mark for your personal taste, don't hesitate to explore their other fantastic creations, as there's truly something for everyone. In conclusion, my journey with the Nothing Bundt Cakes Dubai Chocolate bundtlet was an interesting one. It's clear that the allure of a 'viral' dessert creates high expectations. While the cake itself is a quality chocolate bundt, the unique elements that define 'Dubai chocolate' – particularly the pistachio and phyllo crunch – were perhaps more subtle than I anticipated. For $8.29, it’s a treat, but whether it justifies the slight price premium over their other delicious flavors really depends on how much you value experiencing a trending item. If you’re a die-hard fan of the original Dubai chocolate bars, temper your expectations for a cake adaptation. However, if you enjoy a good chocolate cake with a hint of something different, it’s definitely worth a try for the experience. And don't forget to check out their other amazing bundtlets, especially if you're a first-timer!
