nest with me: bottle washing
wash bottles with me to prep for my first baby! 🫶🏻
Preparing for a new baby involves many exciting and important steps, and washing bottles is a crucial part of getting ready for feeding time. From my experience as a soon-to-be first-time mom, I found that having a dedicated, thorough bottle washing routine gave me peace of mind and helped me feel more organized. When I started washing bottles, I realized the importance of choosing the right cleaning tools. Using a soft bottle brush specifically designed for baby bottles helps reach all the tight spots without scratching the bottles. It’s also essential to clean all parts separately—the nipples, rings, and caps—because milk residue can hide in small crevices. I wash my bottles right after feeding to prevent milk from drying and sticking, making cleaning easier. I use warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly with clean water before sterilizing. For sterilization, I prefer using a steam sterilizer as it kills any lingering bacteria effectively without the use of harsh chemicals. Organization played a big role too. Setting up a specific space near the sink for drying bottles on a clean rack keeps everything hygienic and easily accessible. Labeling or grouping bottles can help if you have multiple bottles to prepare throughout the day. Overall, this nesting phase has taught me that washing bottles isn’t just a chore but part of lovingly preparing for baby’s arrival. It’s satisfying to see all the bottles clean and ready, knowing I’m creating a safe environment for feeding. For fellow first-time parents, I recommend establishing a simple, consistent cleaning and organizing routine early to make bottle feeding easier and more enjoyable.
