How do you stop comparing yourself to others??

Lately I’ve been feeling the urge to take another break from social media. Not because I don’t enjoy it. I love seeing my friends and people I know thrive, travel, crush milestones, etc… but if I’m being honest, it can get really overwhelming. I feel like the more time I spend on social media, the more I feel this way.

Sometimes it feels like everyone is moving faster, achieving more, or just doing better and that voice in my head starts whispering: "Why aren’t you there yet?"

Even when I try to protect my mental peace, set boundaries, and limit my screen time… comparison still finds a way to sneak in.

I feel like it’s a battle between “I need to work harder” and “No, I deserve rest”

I know I’m not alone in this, so I wanted to open up the convo for any other girlies who can relate ~

✨ How do YOU deal with comparison?

✨ What’s helped you shift your mindset or come back to yourself when that spiral starts?

Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear what’s worked for you!

... Read moreIt’s so easy to get caught in the comparison trap, isn't it? Especially when you're scrolling through social media, seeing everyone else's highlight reels – perfect trips, career triumphs, seemingly flawless lives. That feeling of being 'behind' or not 'enough' can be incredibly draining, and I know I'm not alone in struggling with this. Many of us are asking, 'how do you stop comparing yourself to others?' and 'how to deal with comparison' in a world that constantly shows us what others are doing. From personal experience, one of the most powerful steps to shifting your mindset is to really understand that everyone is on their own unique journey. It sounds simple, but truly internalizing 'don't compare yourself' is crucial. What works for one person or what their path looks like might not be right for you, and that's perfectly okay. Instead of focusing on where comparison can take you, which is often a spiral of self-doubt, let's redirect that energy. Here are a few things that have genuinely helped me navigate this struggle and work towards a 'comparison mindset' that's more about self-growth than self-criticism: Mindful Social Media Use: The article already touches on feeling overwhelmed by social media, and honestly, it's often the biggest trigger. Instead of a full detox, try setting boundaries. Limit your scrolling time, curate your feed by unfollowing or muting accounts that consistently make you feel less than, and actively seek out content that inspires and uplifts you. Remember, what you see is often a carefully constructed image, not the full reality. Focus on Your Own Lane (stayinyourlane.xoxo): This phrase has become a bit of a mantra for me. Instead of looking left and right at others' progress, focus on your own personal goals and achievements, no matter how small. Celebrate your milestones. What are you working towards? What makes you happy? This helps ground you in your own journey and reduces the urge to compete with others. Practice Gratitude: When that voice starts whispering, 'why aren't you there yet?', try to pivot to gratitude. Take a moment each day to list things you're thankful for – your health, your relationships, small joys. It helps to reframe your perspective and appreciate what you have, rather than dwelling on what you perceive to be lacking compared to others' life milestones. Self-Compassion, Not Self-Criticism: Be kind to yourself. You wouldn't speak to a friend the way your inner critic speaks to you. Acknowledge the feeling of comparison without judgment. It’s a normal human emotion. Then, gently guide yourself back to your own path. This can be a game-changer for processing those feelings of inadequacy. Define Your Own Success: What does 'success' mean to *you*? Not what society dictates, or what your friends are achieving. Is it peace, creativity, contribution, financial stability, or something else entirely? When you have a clear definition of your own success, comparing yourself to others becomes less relevant because their metrics aren't yours. Learning to stop comparing yourself to others is an ongoing process, but by incorporating these strategies, I've found more peace and a stronger sense of self. It's about shifting from an external focus to an internal one, and truly embracing your unique story. What tips have helped you when you're struggling with comparison?

How to stop comparing yourself
Comparing yourself to others is almost automatic—it’s how the brain tries to measure progress and belonging. The problem is that it quietly distorts reality and drains your confidence. You don’t have to eliminate comparison completely, but you can take control of how much it affects you. #chris

How to stop comparing yourself to others
Stop chasing someone else’s version of success. When you define your own values, you set your own scorecard. Your goals don’t need to look like theirs. They just need to align with what matters most to you. The moment you measure your life by your values, comparison loses its grip. #healing
