NO kids at our wedding and NO regrets
When my husband and I were planning our wedding, one decision sparked a LOT of opinions: we opted for a child-free wedding. 👀
To be honest, we didn’t want to hear babies crying during our vows or have parents needing to step out mid ceremony. We wanted the focus to be on us, and for all our guests to really relax, let loose, and enjoy the night without needing to leave early or chase toddlers around the dance floor.
Also let’s be real…weddings are expensive, and this was one way to reduce costs without compromising our dream day.
Yes, it caused a bit of controversy with a few guests. But at the end of the day, it was our wedding, and we have zero regrets. 💅Looking back at our wedding day, I don’t think I would have it any other way.

The decision to have a child-free wedding is undoubtedly one of the most talked-about topics in wedding planning, often sparking the age-old debate: is it rude or perfectly reasonable? From my personal experience, after going through with an adults-only celebration, I can confidently say it was the best decision for us, and here’s why, along with some tips if you’re considering the same. First, let's tackle the 'rude' question head-on. Many assume it's an insult to guests with children, but for us, it was never about disliking kids! Instead, it was about creating a specific atmosphere for our special day. We envisioned a truly peaceful ceremony where heartfelt vows wouldn't be interrupted and where all our adult guests could fully relax, let loose, and enjoy themselves without the usual parenting duties. Think about it: parents often appreciate a night off, a chance to dress up, enjoy adult conversations, and dance the night away without chasing toddlers or worrying about early bedtimes. It transforms the event into less of a family obligation and more of a grand celebration for everyone involved. Communicating the decision is key to making it reasonable. We chose to politely state 'adults-only reception' on our invitations and included a short, clear FAQ on our wedding website explaining our desire for an intimate adult celebration. This helped manage expectations upfront. While a few guests initially raised an eyebrow, most understood once we explained our reasoning – focusing on the couple, allowing guests to fully enjoy the open bar and late-night music, and yes, even how it helped cut costs slightly, as fewer meals and less specialized entertainment were needed. This approach allowed us to keep our wedding budget on track without compromising our dream day. Another significant benefit was the truly uninterrupted joy and focus on our marriage. Our dance floor was full of adults, conversations flowed freely, and we didn't have to worry about child-friendly menus or entertainment. It created a vibrant, celebratory environment that felt truly unique to us. Looking back at our wedding photos and videos, the sheer bliss and freedom captured in every moment reinforce that our choice led to an unforgettable celebration. If you're on the fence, consider what sort of atmosphere you truly desire for your wedding day. It's your day, and making decisions that align with your vision is always reasonable.
