I finally understand how to heal trauma…🫂

For the longest time, I thought healing meant constantly revisiting my pain… analyzing every memory, trying to make sense of it all. But recently, I’ve realized that true healing isn’t about reliving the past, it’s about releasing it. The biggest shift for me came when I finally decided to forgive and forget. Not because what happened was okay, but because I was tired of carrying it.

Holding on to old pain was holding me back from chasing new dreams, fulfilling new goals, and becoming the version of myself I always wanted to be. Once I let go, I felt lighter, like I finally had space to grow again. Forgiveness, for me, wasn’t about the other person. It was about setting myself free and breaking that “hold” they had over me.

Now, I’m learning that peace comes when you stop letting your past define your future. Letting go doesn’t mean it didn’t matter, it means it’s you’re no longer allowing it to affect you.

Do you think forgiveness is essential for healing, or can we truly move on without it?

... Read moreHealing trauma is often misunderstood as the need to constantly reflect and analyze painful memories. However, real healing involves releasing the grip that past pain holds over you. The images' messages echo this shift—from revisiting every detail to consciously choosing to forgive and forget, not to dismiss what happened, but to stop carrying its burden. Forgiveness serves as a powerful tool to break free from emotional captivity and reclaim your future. Many mental health experts agree that trauma recovery hinges on moving beyond the pain's dominance over our lives. Holding on to resentment or grief can trap one's emotional state, preventing growth and happiness. Forgiveness creates space for healing by loosening these chains, enabling you to pursue new goals and foster self-growth. Importantly, forgiving is a personal choice that helps restore peace internally. It does not mean excusing harmful acts but rather releasing their control over your emotions. This process is essential because it shifts focus from a painful past toward empowerment and well-being. It's also essential to note that healing is non-linear and unique for everyone. Some find forgiveness pivotal for moving forward, while others heal through different means such as therapy or mindfulness practices. Regardless, letting go of the emotional hold the trauma has on you is vital to breaking the cycle of pain. This insight encourages a compassionate approach to self-healing — one that prioritizes self-care and acknowledges that defining your future, rather than being defined by your past, is a cornerstone of mental health recovery. Embracing forgiveness, or at least the willingness to release old wounds, can open doors to fulfillment in your healing journey and beyond.

Totally this! Constantly having to relive or rewrite keeps the old cycles alive. Moving forward in vision helps complete that.
