Sorry I’m a bad food poster and always forget to take before and after pics usually just before but here is my recipe for the tenderest steak and creamy potato casserole ❤️
a cut of steak (really any type you’d like)
Salt, garlic, rosemary to taste
Coat the steaks in a light coat of olive oil and bake at 350 for about 15 minutes
Return to pan with butter for crusting
For the potato’s:
Boil 3 russet potato’s that were cubed (or scalloped or really however you want to cut it) until tender with chicken broth and Cajun seasoning
Put cubes in following mix:
Ricotta watered down for a thinner consistency
Season with salt, pepper, garlic, and Cajun seasonings
Mix boiled cubes with the ricotta
Place into oven pan (whatever size will fit this at a medium fill)
Place a layer of cheese on top and add parsley for extra flavor
Bake for 35-45min until bubbly and cheese crispy ontop
Serve and bon appétit 😋
For added nutrition add whatever other veg you would like

For the steak, you can use anything from a ribeye to sirloin or even flank steak, depending on what you have available or prefer. The key is to season it well with simple ingredients like salt, garlic, and rosemary to enhance its natural flavor.
When it comes to the potatoes, using russet potatoes is ideal because they hold up well when boiled and absorbed the seasoning beautifully. You can experiment with different cuts—cubed, sliced scalloped style, or even grated for variation in texture. Boiling them in chicken broth with Cajun seasoning adds a rich depth and a little kick that makes the casserole more flavorful. Mixing the potatoes with watered-down ricotta is a clever way to keep a creamy texture without it becoming too heavy.
Adding a layer of cheese on top not only creates that desired bubbly and crispy crust but also enriches the overall taste and adds a savory finish. If you're looking to boost the nutritional value, incorporating vegetables such as spinach, bell peppers, or mushrooms before baking can be a wonderful addition. These veggies blend well with the cheesy, savory elements and provide extra vitamins and fiber.
In terms of preparation, the initial step of baking the steak coated lightly with olive oil at 350°F for 15 minutes helps ensure it remains tender. Following up by browning it in butter adds a flavorful crust that contrasts nicely with the creamy potatoes. This two-step cooking method is effective and easy for home cooks.
Serving this casserole is perfect for family dinners or meal prepping for the week. At approximately $4.50 per serving, it’s affordable while delivering hearty, satisfying flavors. Plus, making this casserole ahead of time and reheating it ensures you have a delicious, comforting meal ready when needed.
For those who like a bit of zest, sprinkling extra parsley or fresh herbs right before serving lifts the flavor and adds a nice visual touch. Don’t hesitate to play with the seasoning to make it your own signature dish!
Overall, this recipe balances simplicity, flavor, and flexibility, making it ideal for anyone who appreciates a good home-cooked comfort food that isn’t complicated but feels special.
