Lazy Man Gołąbki (Polish “Piggies”) 🇵🇱🥬
An easy, deconstructed version of traditional stuffed cabbage—same cozy flavor, way less work.
Ingredients
• 2 lb ground beef
• 1 onion, diced
• ½ head cabbage
• 3 cups white rice
• 3 cups water
• 1 jar tomato sauce
• 1 ring kielbasa
• Oil for frying
• Fresh focaccia bread (for serving) see recipe in previous post
Instructions
1. Cook the beef & onions
Brown the ground beef in a large pan. Add diced onion and cook until soft and fragrant.
2. Boil the cabbage
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add half a head of cabbage and cook for 5–8 minutes until slightly soft and translucent. Drain.
3. Cook the rice
In a pot, cook white rice with a 1:1 ratio of rice to water (example: 3 cups rice + 3 cups water). Cook until tender.
4. Layer everything
In a baking dish, layer:
Cabbage → Tomato sauce → Beef & onions → Rice
Repeat layers until everything is used.
5. Bake
Cover the dish with foil (so the top doesn’t burn like mine lol) and bake at 375°F for about 45 minutes.
6. Make crispy kielbasa
Boil the kielbasa ring in a pan with water for 5–10 minutes until heated through.
Slice into rounds, then pan-fry in a little oil until crispy.
7. Serve
Plate the lazy gołąbki with crispy kielbasa and fresh baked focaccia bread.
✨ Comfort food with half the effort.
