New Paintings!!
This past month I took time off making earrings to really focus on painting and build up my inventory for art fair season 😎 #painting #oilpainting #independantartist
Stepping away from my usual earring projects to fully immerse myself in painting has been an incredibly rewarding journey, especially as I gear up for the upcoming art fair season! There's a unique kind of magic in bringing new visions to life on canvas, and I'm so thrilled to finally share some of the pieces I've completed this past month. Each one tells a story, a moment captured, and I've poured so much of myself into these creations. Take, for instance, my piece titled "Growth." This painting truly encapsulates a period of profound personal and artistic development. I wanted to explore the subtle yet powerful transformations we experience, both within ourselves and in the natural world. The colors I chose, the textures I built up – they all contribute to the feeling of organic movement and resilience. It's a larger piece, demanding a significant presence, and I envision it as a focal point, drawing the viewer into its layered narrative. When I paint, I often think about how the final piece will live in a space, and "Growth" felt like it needed room to breathe and expand, much like its theme. Then there's "Light Dancing upon the Storm." This painting was inspired by a dramatic sky I witnessed after a heavy downpour. The way the light broke through the clouds, illuminating fragments of the landscape with such intensity, was breathtaking. I aimed to capture that fleeting moment of hope and beauty amidst chaos. The brushstrokes are more energetic, reflecting the dynamic interplay of elements, and the luminosity I tried to achieve really makes the light appear to 'dance' across the canvas. It's a medium-sized work, designed to bring a powerful atmospheric presence to any room, reminding us that even after the storm, beauty emerges. And finally, "The World on Fire" – this one carries a different kind of weight and urgency. It's a reflection on the pressing issues facing our planet, but also a call for awakening and passion. I experimented with more intense, fiery hues and contrasting cool tones to convey both the destruction and the potential for rebirth. This painting is deliberately impactful in its visual statement, designed to spark conversation and contemplation. Its dimensions allow for an immersive experience, where the viewer can truly feel the heat and emotion within the composition. Preparing for art fairs means not just creating the art, but also thinking about how collectors will engage with it. Many people ask about the specific dimensions of a piece, its medium (yes, these are all oil paintings!), and the story behind it. I find that providing these details helps people connect more deeply with the artwork and envision it in their own homes or collections. For each of these new paintings, I'm documenting not just the inspiration, but also the practicalities – the exact measurements, the type of canvas, and even the framing choices that best complement the work. It’s all part of the journey from my studio to a new home. I can't wait to share these in person and discuss them with you!
