I recently dug it out, and wow, the memories came flooding back! It has literally been collecting dust since I got my Switch, but there's just something special about it. Finding my old 2DS immediately brought me back to simpler times. Before the Switch took over my gaming life, this little wedge-shaped console was my go-to for so many adventures. It never had the 3D feature like its 3DS siblings, but honestly, I never missed it. The comfortable form factor and the sheer library of incredible games made it a powerhouse in its own right. One of the first things I noticed when I powered it on (after a much-needed charge, of course!) were my old Flipnotes. If you don't remember Flipnote Studio, you missed out! It was this amazing application where you could draw, animate, and share little flipbook-style cartoons. Seeing my old 'nuesh's flips' made me smile. It was such a creative outlet, and it really shows the unique charm of Nintendo's handhelds – they weren't just about playing games, but also about creating and sharing. It makes me wonder if there's any way to somehow transfer these old creations, or if they're destined to live only on this dusty old console. Now that it's out, what should I do with my 2DS? My initial thought is to revisit some of my favorite classic Nintendo DS and 3DS games. Games like Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Pokémon X/Y, or even those quirky eShop titles that never made it to other platforms. It's also a great way to experience games without the constant pull of newer, more demanding titles on the Switch. Sometimes, you just want to relax with a familiar, comforting game. Another idea is to see if there's any way to connect with the community. While the official online services for the 3DS family are somewhat limited now compared to their prime, there are still ways to enjoy local multiplayer or just share experiences with other enthusiasts. Or maybe, just maybe, it's time to teach a younger family member about console gaming from a slightly different era. It could be a fun way to introduce them to some timeless classics without breaking the bank on new games. Unearthing this old gem has definitely sparked a wave of nostalgia. It just goes to show that even when a newer, shinier console like the Switch comes along, the magic of our old systems never truly fades. So, if you've got a dusty 2DS or 3DS lying around, I highly recommend digging it out. You might just find yourself on a delightful trip down memory lane, discovering forgotten games and creative projects all over again!
