... Read moreHey fellow art lovers! I'm so thrilled to share a bit more about the stories behind my original characters, or OCs, that you saw in my art showcase. It's truly a labor of love bringing these personalities to life, and I get so many questions about my process, so here’s a little artist's commentary on some of my favorites!
When I draw, I always try to inject a bit of soul into each character. Take, for instance, the vibrant cartoon character rocking a red dress, holding a microphone. I envisioned her as a charismatic performer, maybe a singer or a host, someone who effortlessly lights up a room. The bold red dress and matching gloves signify her strong stage presence, and that microphone is practically an extension of her lively spirit. It’s all about capturing that energetic, confident aura!
Then there's the character with dark skin and those striking light blue eyes, donning a sharp dark green suit and tie, but with a visibly worried expression. He’s designed to explore deeper emotions. I often think of him as someone burdened with great responsibility, perhaps a leader or a protector, constantly navigating complex situations. The dark green suit adds a sophisticated yet slightly mysterious edge, hinting at composure despite internal turmoil. That worried look is key to his narrative – it speaks volumes!
You also saw my character with green skin, pink curly hair, and that single, vivid yellow eye! She’s one of my most whimsical creations. I wanted to play with contrasting colors and unique features, so the pink hair against her green skin was a deliberate choice to make her stand out. The headphones are a nod to her love for music, probably something quirky and experimental, fitting her overall vibe. And that peace sign? It just perfectly captures her playful, free-spirited personality. She's all about embracing individuality!
For those who spotted Kash, my Saiyan OC, yes, he's a tribute! Creating Kash, a 25-year-old Saiyan with glowing orange eyes and a tail, was a blast. I aimed to give him that raw, powerful Saiyan energy while also infusing him with his own unique backstory. Imagine the adventures he gets into!
And then there’s Ivory, with her braided hair, holding a Poké Ball, alongside her rabbit-like friend, Toolegn. This duo was inspired by my love for creature collecting games! Ivory is a determined trainer, always ready for her next challenge, and Toolegn is her loyal, sometimes mischievous, companion. I focused on giving Ivory a confident stance and a practical yet stylish outfit, reflecting her adventurous spirit.
Finally, Thorn Rose, the Demon Hunter. This character is all about power and resilience. I imagined her with dark skin, short curly hair, and intense red eyes, often bandaged from battles. The large serrated sword isn't just for show; it's practically a part of her, a testament to her fierce dedication. She's a character forged in fire, a true warrior with a compelling, darker narrative.
Creating these OCs is a journey of imagination, and I hope this little peek into my artist's mind helps you connect with them even more. It’s amazing how much personality you can pack into a single drawing! What do you think? Which OC's story are you most curious about now?
