Made mini books!!

I'm so thrilled to share my latest craft obsession with you all – making miniature book replicas for my reading tracker jars! Like many of you, I struggle with keeping track of all the amazing books I want to read, and sometimes, seeing a physical stack just doesn't cut it. That's why I decided to dive into the world of mini books and create my very own 'TO BE READ' and 'READ' jars, just like the ones you might have seen around! It's not just incredibly satisfying to craft these tiny treasures; it also adds a super cute, personalized touch to my reading nook. Why You'll Love Making Mini Books: Beyond just looking adorable, crafting mini books offers a fantastic way to visualize your reading journey. For me, pulling a finished miniature book replica from the 'TO BE READ' jar and dropping it into the 'READ' jar feels like a small victory every single time. It's a tangible representation of progress and a constant source of motivation. Plus, they make for charming decor, adding a literary flair to any space. What You'll Need to Create Your Own Mini Books: The best part is, you probably have most of these supplies lying around! Paper: Printer paper for pages, cardstock or thicker paper for covers. Printer: (Optional) If you want to print tiny book covers. Scissors or Craft Knife: For precise cutting. Ruler: Essential for straight lines! Glue: Craft glue or a glue stick. Optional: Markers, colored pencils, glitter, stickers, or even tiny printable book cover images for extra detail. Jars: Don't forget your 'TO BE READ' and 'READ' jars to display your creations! My Simple Steps to Crafting Adorable Mini Books: Decide on Your Size: I usually go for books that are about 1-2 inches tall, but you can make them any size you like. Consistency is key if you want them to look neat in your jars. Prepare the Pages: Cut several small rectangles of regular paper. For a book that's 1-inch tall, I might cut strips of paper that are 1 inch by 4 inches, then fold them in half to create two pages. Stack about 5-10 of these folded papers. Create the Cover: Cut a piece of cardstock slightly larger than your folded pages. If your pages are 1 inch tall and 0.75 inches wide when folded, your cover might be 1.1 inches tall and 1.6 inches wide. Score the cardstock in the middle and on either side (about 0.1-0.2 inches from the center score) to create a spine. Assemble Your Book: Apply a thin line of glue along the spine of your stacked pages. Carefully place these onto the inside spine of your cardstock cover. Press firmly and let it dry. Decorate Your Covers: This is where the magic happens! For books I've read, I love to print out tiny versions of the actual book covers. For my 'TO BE READ' jar, I often just write the title and author on the cover with a fine-tip marker. You can get really creative here – add tiny illustrations, use different colored cardstock, or even paint them. Don't forget to label the spine if your book is thick enough! Fill Your Jars: Once your mini books are dry and decorated, it's time to stock your jars! For my 'TO BE READ' jar, I fill it with books from my wishlist. As soon as I finish a book, I move its miniature replica from the 'TO BE READ' jar to the 'READ' jar. It’s such a simple yet effective system for tracking my progress.
