POTG MERCY

Hey fellow Overwatch enthusiasts! You know that feeling when you just know you’ve pulled off something incredible? That’s exactly how I felt during my latest Play of the Game as Mercy. It wasn't just a regular POTG; it was one of those moments where I really embraced my inner 'Kitten of Discord'. You might be wondering, what exactly is a 'Kitten of Discord'? For me, it's about being a Mercy player who, despite our sweet, angelic exterior, brings absolute chaos and game-changing plays to the battlefield. We look innocent, but we're creating so much 'discord' for the enemy team, whether it's through unexpected clutch rezzes or relentless healing that refuses to let our team die. I remember this particular game was a heated CTF Blitz match – talk about fast-paced! We were neck and neck, and the enemy team was pushing hard. My team was scattered, and it felt like we were about to lose control of the objective. That's when I knew I had to step up. My team’s tank went down, followed by a DPS who was trying to contest the point. My heart was pounding, but I saw the opportunity. I swiftly dodged enemy fire, using my Guardian Angel to zip between cover, and landed a critical double resurrection. It wasn't just about bringing them back; it was where I brought them back – right into the fight, allowing them to immediately re-engage and secure the objective. The enemy team was so focused on our front line that they completely overlooked me, the little 'kitten' in the back, quietly sowing discord by nullifying their eliminations. That moment, seeing 'PLAY OF THE GAME MERCY' flash across the screen, felt incredibly validating. So, how can you become your own 'Kitten of Discord' as Mercy? It's all about strategic play and smart decision-making. First, positioning is key. You can't heal or resurrect if you're dead. Always be aware of your escape routes and who you can Guardian Angel to. Don't be afraid to break line of sight after healing a critically injured teammate. Second, mastering your healing priority is crucial. Who needs healing more? Is your tank about to fall, or is your DPS just taking a bit of poke damage? Learning when to swap between healing and damage boosting can turn the tide of a skirmish. Often, a well-timed damage boost on an ultimate can be more impactful than continuous healing. Third, resurrection timing is everything. A flashy 5-man rez used to be the dream, but now it's about making smart, impactful 1-2 man rezzes. Don't go for a risky rez if it means sacrificing yourself and leaving your team without a main healer. Wait for your team to create space, or for key enemy abilities to be on cooldown. Think about who you're bringing back – is it your main tank to hold the line, or a powerful DPS to finish off the enemy? Finally, don't underestimate Valkyrie. It's not just for healing; it's an amazing tool for escaping sticky situations, getting safe rezzes, or even boosting damage on multiple targets for a push. Using Valkyrie to create space and maintain pressure can turn a losing fight into a winning one. Remember, as Mercy, you're not just a healer; you're a force multiplier, a strategic mind, and sometimes, a deceptively dangerous 'Kitten of Discord'!
