I did it! I passed got my CNA

First I want to say thank you to God because without him I am nothing. Next I want to thank myself because I worked hard and dedicated myself to completing this certification and I did it. I balanced my six kids, my part time job and school to reach this step. I passed with a 90% which makes me confident that we really can do anything we set our mind too. Lastly, I would like to thank my husband for his support and love that motivates me to keep going ❤️ #Diary #unfiltered #Lemon8Diary #nursing #cna #school #mom #momlife

... Read moreHey everyone! Seeing so many of you looking for tips on the 'nurse aide written exam' reminded me of my own journey, especially since I did it while juggling so much. When I first started studying, honestly, it felt overwhelming. I was in those blue scrubs heading to clinicals, then rushing home to my six kids and trying to fit in study time. It felt like a BEFORE and AFTER kind of transformation was needed just to get through the study phase! So, if you're feeling a bit daunted by the CNA written exam, know that you're not alone. Here are a few things that really helped me, and might help you too: 1. Make a Study Schedule (and Stick to it as Best You Can!): With a busy life, dedicated blocks of time were a luxury. Instead, I'd break down my study into 15-30 minute chunks. While dinner was cooking, during a kid's nap, or even just before bed. Consistency, even in small doses, makes a huge difference. Focus on understanding concepts rather than just memorizing. 2. Utilize Practice Tests: These were my lifesavers! There are tons of free and paid nurse aide written exam practice tests online. They help you get familiar with the format, question types, and how time management works. I'd do them repeatedly until I started feeling truly confident. Don't just look for the right answer, understand why it's the right answer and why others are wrong. 3. Focus on Key Areas: The CNA exam typically covers patient care, safety, communication, legal/ethical issues, and basic nursing skills. I spent extra time on areas I felt weaker in, like infection control or charting, making sure I understood the core principles. 4. Create Study Aids: Flashcards (digital or physical) were great for definitions and procedures. I'd also quiz myself out loud while doing chores – it sounds silly, but it helped reinforce the information. 5. Don't Neglect Your Well-being: This is crucial! I know it’s hard when you’re a mom or working, but adequate sleep, healthy meals, and even short breaks for momlife sanity can significantly impact your retention and performance. On exam day, I tried to get a good night's rest and a decent breakfast. Feeling refreshed makes a huge difference. 6. Read Questions Carefully: This might sound obvious, but many questions have subtle nuances. Read each question and all answer choices thoroughly before picking your answer. Sometimes the best answer isn't the first one that looks correct. Walking into that nurse aide written exam was nerve-wracking, but remembering all the hard work I'd put in, the BEFORE and AFTER moments of studying late nights, made me feel confident. If I can pass it with a 90% while balancing six kids and a job, you absolutely can too. Believe in yourself, prepare diligently, and you'll be celebrating your own YES GIRL moment soon enough!
