My “everything” shower

In college I used to wash my hair daily. I suffered from greasy hair everyday, and in turn thought I had to wash my hair daily to get the grease out. Turns out, you don’t, and aren’t supposed to!

After college, I started to really at least ~try~ to take care of my body. I have pretty good skin, don’t really break out or anything going on so I used to think I didn’t need to wash my face or anything. So, here is my “everything” shower schedule!

Step 1: shampoo hair w/ Redken All Soft Shampoo

Step 2: use Dr Bronners to shave right leg

Step 3: rinse & shampoo again

Step 4: shave left leg

Step 5: rinse & condition w/ Redken All Soft Conditioner

Step 6: use Dollar Shave Club to shave down there & pits

Step 7: rinse & use a hair mask, I alternate between Verb Ghost Hair Mask & Verb Hydrating Hair Mask. I use 1 every 2 weeks

Step 8: wash face w/ Kiehls Ultra Facial Cleanser

Step 9: wash body w/ Method Body Wash

Step 10: use Tree Hut Sugar Scrub (or in my case I make my own sometimes when I run out!)

... Read moreOkay, so we've talked about my go-to "everything shower" routine, but let's dive a little deeper into why this ritual has become such a game-changer for me and how you can truly make it your own ultimate self-care experience. It’s more than just getting clean; it’s about creating a moment of peace and rejuvenation in your week. For me, the transformation started when I realized that a shower could be more than just a quick wash. It’s a chance to truly pamper yourself from head to toe. Before I even step in, I like to set the mood – maybe some calming music or just ensuring I won't be interrupted. Gathering all my products beforehand is key too, so I’m not fumbling around when I’m mid-routine. Let's talk hair. I used to wash my hair way too often, thinking I had to battle the grease daily. But switching to a less frequent wash schedule and incorporating a double shampoo has made all the difference. I find that using a nourishing shampoo like Redken All Soft Shampoo for the first wash really helps break down product buildup and oils, and then a second lather gets my scalp truly clean. Following up with the Redken All Soft Conditioner leaves my hair feeling incredibly soft. And the hair masks? A total must! Alternating between something like a Verb Ghost Hair Mask for lightness and a Verb Hydrating Hair Mask every couple of weeks keeps my strands healthy, shiny, and prevents them from drying out. Moving onto body care, shaving has become a much smoother process. Prepping your skin with warm water is crucial. I’ve found that using a gentle, moisturizing product like Dr. Bronner's Pure-Castile Soap or a dedicated shave butter, like the ones from Dollar Shave Club, makes a huge difference in preventing razor burn and irritation. It creates a protective barrier for a closer, more comfortable shave. And exfoliation? Oh my goodness, don’t skip this step! Using a Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub (or even making your own DIY version with sugar and coconut oil, which I sometimes do!) once or twice a week sloughs off dead skin cells, leaving my legs and arms feeling incredibly smooth and ready to absorb moisturizer. For daily cleansing, I love a good smelling and hydrating body wash, and something like a Method Body Wash fits the bill perfectly for that fresh, clean feeling. Even if you think you have "good" skin, don't underestimate the power of a dedicated face wash. I used to be so lax about it, but now incorporating a gentle yet effective cleanser, like Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser, into my everything shower routine helps keep my complexion clear and fresh, without stripping it. It’s that extra step that makes a noticeable difference. Finally, remember that your "everything shower" isn't about rigid rules, but about creating a routine that works for *you*. Feel free to adapt the steps, choose products that suit your skin and hair type perfectly, and adjust the frequency. The goal is to emerge feeling completely refreshed, pampered, and ready to take on the world. It’s a small investment in self-care that pays off big time in how you feel.
