College move in weekend
Move in day went great for daughter this weekend.
Moving into college is a milestone filled with excitement and a fair share of challenges. From my recent experience helping my daughter move into Texan Hall at Vanderbilt, I found that preparation and a positive mindset made all the difference. One key aspect is organizing packing lists well ahead of move-in day, focusing on essentials like bedding, school supplies, and personal items while leaving space for new belongings. Arriving early to the designated move-in location helps avoid last-minute stress and allows for smoother unloading and settling in. It was helpful to connect with resident advisors and campus staff who guided us efficiently through the process. Taking time to explore the dorm and campus immediately after move-in fosters a sense of belonging and eases first-day nerves. Finally, embracing the moment with your student—capturing photos and sharing encouraging words—can make this transition memorable and reassuring. Whether it's Vanderbilt or another university, these tips can transform a busy move-in day into a rewarding start to college life.
