From my personal journey, starting in Chengdu, the city is a food lover's paradise. I highly recommend trying the local Sichuan cuisine — spicy hotpot and mapo tofu are must-tries. Visiting the giant panda sanctuaries here was truly magical; seeing these gentle creatures up close is unforgettable. Next, Chongqing amazed me with its dramatic mountainous urban landscape. The city's location along the Yangtze River provides spectacular views, especially from the hilltop neighborhoods. Exploring the alleyways and tasting the famous Chongqing spicy noodles introduced me to another dimension of Chinese food culture. Beijing, rich in historical significance, offered days filled with awe. Exploring the Forbidden City, walking the Great Wall, and visiting the many temples and museums provided deep insight into China's imperial past. The blend of traditional hutongs alongside modern developments made each moment special. Finally, Shanghai's vibrant modern vibes were the perfect conclusion. The iconic skyline at dusk, the bustling streets of the Bund, and the eclectic mix of Art Deco and futuristic architecture made the city alive and exciting. I enjoyed wandering through its markets, tasting street food, and embracing the cosmopolitan atmosphere. In sum, this 13-day route covers a broad spectrum of what China has to offer, catering well to travelers who love food adventures, nature, history, and urban experiences. For those intrigued by Chinese culture and cuisine, this itinerary is a thoughtfully paced exploration that balances sightseeing with immersive experiences.
