Hey everyone! I've been really into connecting with my spiritual side lately, and one of the most rewarding things I've done is craft my own set of rune symbols. There's just something so powerful and personal about working with tools you've made yourself. If you're looking to dive into divination or just want a unique craft project, making your own runes is an amazing experience. First off, why make your own rune symbols? For me, it's about infusing my own intention and energy into each piece. When you create them, you're not just making an object; you're creating a connection. Plus, it allows for a lot of creativity and personalization that store-bought sets just can't match. Each mark, each stroke, becomes a part of your unique spiritual journey. So, how do you actually make your own rune symbols? It's much simpler than you might think! While the original post gives a great technique for applying paper images to stones, let's explore some broader ideas for bringing those symbols to life, whether you're using paper or other mediums. 1. Choosing Your Canvas: You can use so many things! Smooth, flat stones are popular and easy to find (just make sure they're clean). Wood slices, small clay discs, or even sea glass can also be fantastic bases. The key is to pick something that resonates with you and feels good in your hand. 2. Designing Your Symbols: This is where the magic truly begins. You can choose to work with traditional Elder Futhark runes, or you can even create your own intuitive symbols. If you're going the traditional route, familiarize yourself with their meanings. For custom symbols, think about what intentions or energies you want to represent. Sketch them out on paper first until you're happy with the design. Remember, these are your runes, so make them meaningful to *you*! 3. Bringing Your Symbols to Life (Application Techniques): Painting: My personal favorite! Acrylic paints or paint pens work wonderfully on stones or wood. You can carefully paint the rune symbol directly onto your chosen canvas. This allows for bold colors and clear lines. Etching/Carving: If you're using softer wood or clay, you might be able to gently etch or carve the symbols. This gives a really tactile and ancient feel to your runes. Decoupage/Paper Transfer (Expanding on the original method): This is where the glue comes in handy! If you've designed your symbols on paper (perhaps printed them out or drawn them), you can cut them out carefully. Then, using a mixture of glue (like white craft glue) and a little water, you can apply a light coat to the back of your paper symbol and press it onto your stone. Let the glue get slightly tacky first to avoid blurring your image. Once dry, apply another light coat over the top of the paper to seal it, or use a clear gloss spray for extra durability. This method is fantastic for intricate designs or if you want perfectly uniform RUNES. Pyrography (Wood Burning): If you're using wood slices and have access to a wood-burning tool, this creates a beautiful, rustic look. Just trace your symbol lightly in pencil first, then burn it in. 4. Sealing and Protection: Once your symbols are dry and you're happy with them, it's crucial to seal them to protect your hard work. A clear acrylic sealant spray or even a coat of clear varnish will do the trick. If you used the paper transfer method, the final coat of glue or gloss spray mentioned in the original guide will act as your sealant. Making your own RUNES is such a fulfilling process. Each time I use my handmade set, I feel a deeper connection to them and to my intuition. Give it a try – you might just find your new favorite craft and divination tool!

I used a wood burning tool and clensed a bunch of dollar tree wooden cubes and burned all the runes into the cubes. I could feel the energy while I was doing it and it was so much fun.
