I've often found that darkness, both literal and metaphorical, offers a unique space for reflection and growth. The phrases from the OCR—'They tried to bury,' 'Darkness is my home,' and 'Black is my favorite color'—resonate deeply with me. To me, darkness symbolizes a refuge where I can embrace my true self without external judgment. It encourages resilience, reminding us that even when others try to diminish us, we can find strength in what we might have once feared or misunderstood. For many, black and darkness carry negative connotations, but through my experience, they have come to represent empowerment and authenticity. When living in a bustling city like NYC, I notice how the city’s nightscape, cloaked in shades of black and shadow, can feel comforting and inspiring rather than intimidating. This perspective encourages us to challenge standard narratives and appreciate the beauty found in the night and the unknown. This mindset has helped me navigate moments of isolation or doubt, transforming them into opportunities to reclaim power and self-expression. Embracing 'darkness' artistically, emotionally, or spiritually can foster a sense of belonging, especially when mainstream ideals feel alienating. It’s a reminder that our favorite colors or metaphors often reflect deeper truths about who we are and how we relate to the world around us.
