Hey fellow Twisted Wonderland fans! I wanted to share a bit more about my recent drawing of Rook Hunt that I posted. As an artist, I often find myself drawn to characters with strong, distinctive aesthetics, and Rook truly fits the bill. There’s something so captivating about his design, from his signature hat with that elegant feather to his unique attire, making him a fantastic subject for fan art. For this piece, I decided to go with a classic black and white line art style. I find that working in monochrome really helps me focus on the intricacies of the character's form and expression, emphasizing the details of his collared shirt and the subtle curves of his face. It’s a great way to practice foundations and ensure the drawing has strong visual impact even without color. Sometimes, simplifying the palette allows for a more dramatic feel, which I think suits Rook's persona perfectly. Getting the details right, even in a chest-up portrait, is key to making the character instantly recognizable. When I'm sketching out characters like Rook Hunt, I always think about what makes them unique. What pose best captures their essence? What details are absolutely essential?
