Moving is often described as one of life's most stressful events, and from personal experience, I can wholeheartedly agree. The endless packing, organizing, and decision-making about what to keep or toss can feel overwhelming, especially when juggling other life changes. One thing I’ve found helpful is embracing the chaos rather than resisting it. Accepting that things won’t be perfect allows me to smile through the mess. Creating a checklist before moving day can simplify tasks and help prevent forgetting essentials. Labeling boxes clearly saves time and frustration when unpacking. Also, reaching out to friends or family for help—not just with lifting but also emotional support—makes a big difference. Social interaction can ease the feeling of isolation that sometimes comes during big transitions. For those with lots of belongings, like me, it’s a chance to declutter and rethink what really matters. This process can be emotionally taxing but ultimately liberating, reducing long-term stress and giving your new space a fresh start. Lastly, if you’re over 50 and going through a move, it’s important to honor your feelings and pace yourself. Life transitions at any age come with challenges, but facing them head-on while maintaining a positive attitude can turn moving from a dreadful task into a new chapter full of potential.
