Valentines Blondies 🫶🏽❤️🩷🤍
Ingredients
* 8 ounces unsalted butter, melted until browned
* 2 cups dark/light brown sugar, firmly packed
* 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
* 2 large eggs plus one egg yolk, at room temperature
* 2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1 1/2 cups holiday M&Ms for batter
* 1/2 cup holiday M&Ms for top of batter
* 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
* 1/2 cup holiday sprinkles for batter
* 1/4 cup holiday sprinkles for top of batter
Instructions
* Preheat oven to 350 degrees (F). Spray a nonstick 9x13-inch baking pan with nonstick baking spray. Set aside.
* In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter until browned (should take between 5-10 minutes). Remove from heat and cool for a few minutes, then scrape the butter into a large heat proof mixing bowl.
* Whisk in the brown sugar and mix until well combined. Stir in the vanilla. Then add in the eggs and egg yolk, beating until combined.
* Using a rubber spatula, fold in the flour, baking powder, and salt, mixing until just combined. Finally, fold in the M&Ms, sprinkles, and chocolate. Scrape the batter into the prepared pan. Make sure to spread out evenly in your baking dish.
* Sprinkle the remainder of M&Ms and sprinkles on top of your batter.
* Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the edges are firm and golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Might need longer depending on the type of pan you use. Cool in pan for at least 20 minutes before cutting.

Making Valentine's Blondies is such a joyful baking experience, especially when adding those colorful holiday M&M's and sprinkles that bring an extra festive charm to the treat. Personally, I find browning the butter adds a wonderfully rich and nutty flavor that elevates the blondies beyond your typical cookie bars. It’s important to melt the butter on medium heat and watch closely because it can go from perfectly browned to burnt quite fast. Using a mix of dark and light brown sugar creates a lovely depth and slight caramel undertone which pairs beautifully with the melted browned butter. When folding the flour, baking powder, and salt into the batter, a gentle hand helps keep the blondies tender and moist. I like to press some of the extra M&M's and sprinkles on top before baking, as it makes the blondies look extra festive and appealing once out of the oven. Letting them cool properly in the pan before slicing ensures neat squares that hold together well. These blondies are a perfect Valentine’s Day gift or a sweet treat to share at holiday gatherings. For an added twist, I've sometimes sprinkled a pinch of sea salt over the top right after baking to contrast the sweetness and enhance the chocolate flavor. These blondies also freeze well—just wrap them tightly and enjoy a quick treat anytime you want a festive snack! Overall, this recipe is a delightful way to combine classic baking techniques with colorful seasonal ingredients, making it a favorite for both baking novices and enthusiasts looking to create something special for Valentine’s Day.
