Oh my goodness, when I said Sassy 'never sleeps,' I meant it! Being a pet parent to such a spirited white and tan puppy with large ears is truly a journey. One minute she's giving you the sweetest look, especially with that little chain collar she wears, and the next she's zooming around like she's had five cups of coffee. Sound familiar to any other puppy parents out there? Dealing with an energetic furball like Sassy, who seems to think sleep is optional, has definitely taught me a few things. It's all part of the charm of having a sassy puppy, right? But for anyone else navigating the wonderful chaos of a high-energy dog, here are a few tips I've picked up to manage those sleepless nights and endless play sessions: Scheduled Play & Exercise: Sassy needs her zoomies, but I've learned to schedule them! Mornings and evenings are prime time for her to burn off energy. We do a mix of walks, fetch, and even some indoor agility games. A tired puppy is a good (and hopefully sleeping) puppy! Mental Stimulation is Key: It’s not just about physical exercise. Puppies, especially smart ones like my Sassy, need their brains challenged. Puzzle toys, training sessions (even just 10-15 minutes a few times a day), and sniff games can be just as tiring as a long walk. It helps keep her engaged and less likely to find mischief when she's bored. Consistent Bedtime Routine: This has been a game-changer for Sassy. We have a strict winding-down routine: a last potty break, a quiet chew toy in her crate, and then lights out. Creating a calm, predictable environment signals to her that it’s time to rest. Her crate, with a comfy bed, has become her safe haven for sleep. Embrace the Cuddles: Even with all her energy, Sassy loves to snuggle. Those quiet moments, usually right before she gets an idea for her next adventure, are precious. It reinforces our bond and helps her feel secure.
