Push!!
I’m on a journey to just be a better me. One step is a better body. A few weeks ago I went to the gym and decided to give the sled a try. I went for about three laps before my sister decided to record. At that point my body was on fire and begging me to stop. I pushed myself and this is what you see. Next time I’m going for 90lbs. But I’ll be post more from my journey soon.
After my first 'SLED DAY' trying out the sled push, I realized just how versatile and effective this exercise can be. It's not just about raw strength; it's about building endurance, mental grit, and functional fitness – something so many of us, especially new moms and healthcare workers, desperately need in our daily lives. For new moms, getting back into a fitness routine can feel overwhelming. The sled push is a fantastic low-impact option that can help rebuild core strength and pelvic floor stability, which are crucial after childbirth. It’s a full-body workout that engages your legs, glutes, core, and shoulders, mimicking everyday movements like pushing a stroller or carrying your little one. The controlled, linear motion means less joint impact compared to running, making it a safer bet during recovery. I’ve heard from so many friends who are new moms that they struggle with finding time and energy, but even a few minutes on the sled can provide an intense, efficient workout that leaves you feeling strong and energized. It’s also incredibly empowering to feel that physical strength returning, helping you tackle the demands of motherhood with more resilience. And for my fellow healthcare workers, who spend long shifts on their feet, lifting, bending, and constantly moving, the sled push is a game-changer. Our jobs require immense physical stamina and functional strength to prevent injuries. Pushing a sled builds powerful legs and a strong core, which are essential for patient handling and maintaining good posture throughout a busy shift. The high-intensity, low-impact nature can also be a fantastic stress reliever after a demanding day. It's a way to channel that physical and mental fatigue into something positive, helping to build the kind of robust fitness that protects your body from the wear and tear of a healthcare career. Plus, it's a great way to improve cardiovascular health without the high impact of other cardio exercises. My own experience starting with just a few laps showed me how quickly it gets your heart rate up and muscles burning. It’s challenging, but the sense of accomplishment is incredible. If you're thinking about adding sled pushes to your routine, start light and focus on good form. Keep your back straight, engage your core, and drive through your legs. Don't be afraid to push your limits, just like I did. Every session is a step forward in building a better, stronger you. I’m excited to continue my sled push journey and see how it transforms my strength and stamina, and I hope sharing my 'SLED DAY' adventures inspires others to give it a try too!
