13 1/2 hr flight to South Korea to write K-pop mus

... Read moreStepping off that incredibly long 13.5-hour flight from LA (it was 4 AM PST when I left!), the first thing that hits you is the sheer excitement mixed with a wave of jet lag. But the energy of Seoul immediately wakes you up! Landing in South Korea to pursue a dream of writing K-pop music is surreal. The check-in process was smooth, and then it was straight into soaking up the atmosphere. It's been a whirlwind, and I'm already feeling that delightful 'sleep tired' but utterly inspired state. For anyone dreaming of studying music in Korea or working in the K-pop industry, it's truly an immersive experience. The creative energy here is palpable. Every corner of Seoul seems to breathe music and art. From the moment I arrived, I've been absorbing sounds, melodies, and lyrical ideas. It’s not just about sitting down with a pen and pad; it's about connecting with the local culture, visiting studios, and understanding what makes K-pop so globally impactful. The scene here is incredibly dynamic, constantly evolving, and full of passionate artists. My plan for these '10 Days in South Korea -Life of a singer songwriter-' is packed. It’s a blend of focused writing sessions, collaborative meetings, and exploring the vibrant city. I'm hoping to weave in some of my personal experiences into the music I create, drawing inspiration from the gorgeous Korean landscapes and the bustling city life. Imagine trying to capture the feeling of a late-night street food adventure or the serene beauty of a temple in a K-pop track – that's the challenge and the joy! One of the biggest adjustments has definitely been the time difference. Keeping track of 'what time is it in South Korea Seoul right now' compared to back home is a constant mental exercise! But adapting to the local rhythm is part of the adventure. I've already tried some amazing Korean barbecue, and the food alone is inspiring. Every meal feels like a little cultural lesson. The visual aesthetic of Korea is also stunning, from modern architecture to historic palaces, providing endless ideas for lyrical imagery. This journey isn't just about writing songs; it's about growth, discovery, and pushing creative boundaries. Being here, surrounded by the birthplace of K-pop, feels like unlocking a new level of my songwriting. I’m excited to see what melodies and stories emerge from this incredible experience. It's a demanding schedule, but every moment, even the 'sleep tired' ones, feels worth it when you're pursuing a passion like this.
