roast and coffee > oriental ? 😮😍✨

📍roast & coffee, near ciq (many outlets in jb ! )

widely raved breakfast cafe that you must try at least once when your in jb! but is that really true?

let me share w u the food i’ve tried and rate them according:

👍 - “ SOLID! I will order again!“

🫤 - “meh, it’s decent”

👎 - “no.”

⭐️ The dishes I have tried:

👍 Salted Egg Chicken Kampung Fried Rice 16.90rm

tried this dish twice, the first time was honestly better! generous portion! salted egg sauce was very fragrant and fried rice was well season! if you like salted egg, u must order this. but fyi chicken can be soggy as they drench the salted egg sauce and you may not be able to finish one plate by yourself…

👍 Fried Fish Fillet Soup (choose Mihun/Laifun) 14.90rm

creamy and flavourful soup! very big portion too!

had this during rainy weather and it’s so shiok! very comforting dish😋

👍 Peanut French Toast 8.90rm

sorry im a bias to p&b so it automatically its nice to me HAHA but just fyi the bread is fried so it can be oily…. overall its a nice dish to share cus one to yourself can be jelak :)

🫤 Iced Coconut Hor Ka Sai ~est 13rm

its better on its own….u should drink coffee and milo separately! I did not like that there’s 2 different type of drink in one beverage HAHA the coconut milk is also very subtle. not bad but I will stick with my teh c peng next time :)

The rest of the dishes I did not really finish them but more of dishes order to share!

Some I do like will be the CKT but I do not like the Curry Lava Egg…..

Food is affordable, Ambience is good and Location is convenient!

Overall: Will come again for sure!! Be it for Breakfast or Brunch😝⭐️

... Read moreIf you're planning to visit Roast & Coffee at Retro Garden or Bukit Indah, here are some extra tips from my experience. The Salted Egg Chicken Fried Rice is definitely a standout, but be aware that the chicken can get soggy from the rich sauce – sharing might be best. The Fried Fish Fillet Soup with mihun is perfect on a rainy day and offers hearty comfort without breaking the bank. Regarding drinks, the Iced Coconut Hor Ka Sai combines coffee, Milo, and subtle coconut flavors, but I personally found the mix a bit odd. You might prefer ordering coffee and Milo separately for a purer taste. The Peanut Butter French Toast is a sweet treat but can be oily; sharing this dish is a good idea to avoid feeling overwhelmed by the richness. Many visitors enjoy the Char Kuey Teow here, especially the Golden Duck Egg variant, which adds an extra layer of flavor. However, I would skip the Curry Lava Egg as it didn't meet my expectations. The ambience around CIQ and Bukit Indah outlets is comfortable and great for breakfast or brunch with friends. Also, keep in mind this restaurant offers no pork or lard dishes, which is helpful if you’re looking for halal-friendly options. Overall, Roast & Coffee is worth a visit for its unique menu and cozy atmosphere in Johor Bahru. It's become one of my go-to spots when craving flavorful local breakfast or brunch!
