Evening Wind Down
Lets wind down for the evening. My favorite part of the day! 💕
You know that feeling when the day is finally winding down, and you can just breathe? That's my absolute favorite part of the evening! I used to just crash on the couch, but I’ve learned that having a consistent evening wind-down routine makes all the difference for a good night's sleep and feeling refreshed the next morning. It’s truly an act of self-love, and I want to share what works for me! First things first: setting the atmosphere. Around an hour or two before I plan to sleep, I start to dim the lights. This is a game-changer! Swapping out bright overhead lights for softer lamps, or even lighting a few candles, signals to my brain that it’s time to relax. I also try to avoid harsh blue light from screens as much as possible. If I absolutely have to be on my phone or laptop (maybe for a bit of light 'editing' on a personal project), I make sure to use blue light filters. Next, I focus on my body. A warm shower or bath is incredibly soothing. It washes away the day's stress and leaves me feeling clean and calm. Sometimes I add essential oils like lavender to the bathwater for an extra layer of relaxation. After my shower, it’s all about quiet, mindful activities. Dinner is usually earlier in the evening, but I make sure it’s a light, comforting meal that won’t weigh me down. Then, I love to journal. It’s a wonderful way to process my thoughts, celebrate small wins, or simply jot down anything that’s on my mind. Getting those thoughts out of my head and onto paper helps clear my mind, preventing me from tossing and turning later. Reading a physical book is another staple in my routine. There's something so calming about disconnecting from digital devices and getting lost in a story. Sometimes I'll listen to a calming podcast or some instrumental music while I sip on a cup of herbal tea – chamomile or passionflower are my go-tos. I've also found that a few minutes of gentle stretching or deep breathing exercises can make a huge difference. It releases any lingering tension in my body and helps me feel more grounded. This routine isn't about being rigid; it's about creating a personal sanctuary every evening. It helps me transition from the day's hustle to a state of peace, ensuring I get quality sleep. Trust me, dedicating this time to yourself will transform your mornings and your overall well-being. Give it a try and see how much better you feel!
