On Saturday I shared my designs at the Freak House table at Nightmare Weekend Miami. This is the first time my fashion designs have appeared at any expo/con/etc. and I am so nervous and excited to see what comes next! ... Read moreStepping into Nightmare Weekend Miami with my Codawinx custom fashion designs for the very first time was an absolute whirlwind of emotions! I can honestly say I was a bundle of nerves, but also overflowing with excitement to finally share the pieces I’ve poured so much of my heart and soul into. It’s one thing to create in your studio, but another entirely to see your art out in the world, interacting with people who truly appreciate unique style.
My display table was truly a labor of love to set up. I carefully arranged each item, hoping to catch the eye of fellow fashion enthusiasts. Among the standout pieces were my signature round bag, adorned with a captivating dark figure that seemed to draw everyone in for a closer look. The custom sneakers, each hand-painted with intricate details, were another crowd favorite – many people couldn't believe they were wearable art! And of course, my backpack with the bold skull design was a huge hit, perfectly embodying the edgy aesthetic that Codawinx is all about. It was fantastic to have a tablet displaying even more of my designs, giving visitors a wider glimpse into the Codawinx world, all beautifully framed against a sleek black curtain background.
The energy at the expo was incredible. It was so rewarding to connect with people, hear their feedback, and see their genuine reactions to my work. I had so many engaging conversations about my creative process, what inspires my art, and how I bring these custom fashion visions to life. It felt like I was finding my community, a place where individuality and artistic expression are celebrated. This direct interaction really fueled my passion and reaffirmed why I started this journey with Codawinx – to create fashion that tells a story and empowers people to express themselves.
Getting everything ready for the event was a massive undertaking, from meticulously finishing each design to printing out eye-catching brochures with all the Codawinx details. There were late nights and early mornings, but every moment was worth it. I even received some inquiries about custom commissions, which was incredibly validating and exciting for the future.
And there’s even more exciting news on the horizon for Codawinx! Very soon, my designs will be available for purchase at Freak House, a fantastic and quirky store right here in Miami. This partnership is a huge step for me as a designer, making Codawinx accessible beyond just event appearances. It means more people will have the chance to own a piece of wearable art, and I can't wait to share the official launch details with you all.
For anyone out there dreaming of showcasing their own creative work, whether it’s fashion, art, or anything else, my biggest piece of advice is to embrace the vulnerability and just go for it. The nervousness is a natural part of putting yourself out there, but the joy and validation of seeing your passion resonate with others is truly priceless. This past weekend was just the beginning of many more exciting chapters for Codawinx. I’m already buzzing with new ideas for custom fashion pieces and looking forward to where this incredible journey takes me next! Stay tuned for more unique creations and updates!
