how i stay calm and peaceful

how i stay being a relaxing person (maybe not to others but these things help me to slow life down)

1. focus on being in the moment a few times a day and not what’s going to happen in the future or dwelling on the past. a small example is while you’re washing your hands simply focus on how the water feels running over your skin, how the temperature feels, how good the soap you’re using smells. get in tune with your senses during these times, it helps to ground you and keep your thoughts from running wild, making you anxious.

2. appreciate the little things, especially nature. it’s nice to have big things to do and to look forward to, but everyday contentment comes from showing gratitude for and loving the small things. like mixing the perfect shade of paint for your project, catching a beautiful sunset, the way it smells outside after it rains, the typically unaffectionate pet coming up and sitting beside you. you have to learn to acknowledge these things but once you do, life is so much simpler and nicer.

3. pick up slow hobbies. i’ve always enjoyed painting and playing calming videos games (like the sims and minecraft, which i know can get chaotic but they can also be simple and not stressful) and i really believe they’ve helped to slow my mind down and let me relax. ive started kayaking around lakes a little bit as well, which ties all three of these examples together. its a calming hobby that lets you sit out and enjoy nature and appreciate the moment, but your mind and body are still working to get you to where you want to be (physically lol).
