So you might have seen the coffee art I did recently(it is shared in the posts before)🤩
And I was painting another work to go with it(with shortly share that as well)
And I ended up mixing a lot of color that wasn’t required.😩
As an artist, wasting color is the least preferred thing.🔴
The color I was using was acryl gouache = acrylics + gouache🤓
So it acts like gouache(water soluble and blendable) until it is wet and once its dry, it is an acrylic(cannot be revived again)😩
So basically the color out of the tube is wasted if not used. 🥲
So I ended up doing these practice doodle because I like doodles a lot, I got fine detail brush recently so wanted to play with it as well for practice and I love seeing other people’s spreads. 📖
So here is mine, I like it, not bad as a first attempt and definitely a win-win as it saved my color from going to waste.
... Read moreHey doodle buddies! After sharing my last coffee-inspired doodle spread, I realized so many of you are looking for ways to create those cozy, aesthetic pages in your own notebooks. I totally get it – sometimes you just want cute ideas that are easy to draw! That's why I'm diving a bit deeper into how I achieve that warm, brown aesthetic, perfect for your sketchbook.
For me, the brown palette feels incredibly comforting and versatile, almost like a hug on paper! You don't need a huge art supply store to get started. While I love my fine detail brush for those delicate touches, honestly, any favorite pen – a simple gel pen, fineliner, or even a brown marker – will work wonders. Don't let fancy tools stop you from creating!
Now, for the fun part: what to doodle! If you're aiming for that cute aesthetic doodle vibe, I find inspiration in everyday delights. My go-to elements often include:
Cafe-Inspired Charms: Think steaming coffee cups, scattered coffee beans, or sweet treats like an ice cream cone or a slice of cake. I even love adding little details like an 'OPEN' sign to tell a tiny story on the page.
Nature's Gentle Touches: Simple flowers, flowing leafy branches, delicate butterflies, and whimsical clouds are always winners. Don't forget twinkling stars and a serene crescent moon for a dreamy feel. They instantly add an organic, inviting touch.
Minimalist Faces: You might have seen the simple female faces in my recent spread. They don't need to be super realistic; focus on expressive outlines, flowy hair, or sweet freckles. They add a lovely, soft human element.
Textural Fillers: To make a page feel full and cohesive, I often sprinkle in checkered patterns, tiny hearts, or small diamonds. These are great for filling empty spaces and adding visual interest.
To really nail the 'aesthetic' look, consistency is key. Try sticking to a limited, monochromatic palette – browns, sepia tones, or even just black and white. Play with your line work; a fine detail pen for outlines and a slightly bolder one for emphasis can add beautiful depth. And don't be afraid to fill the page, creating a full page doodle or a connected 'spread' that tells a more complete visual story.
Remember, these are often just practice doodles for me, like when I was using up my acryl gouache. It takes the pressure off! The beauty of aesthetic doodling lies in its spontaneous, charming imperfections. So, grab your favorite notebook, a comfy pen, and just start creating. Let your imagination flow, and share your own cute aesthetic doodles with the world!
