Sketchbook inspiration 🍋

Hola dear lemon8 community ❤️

Continuing my last post, I am now sharing how to create a journal or sketchbook page when you have minimal supplies to work with.

Tips and tricks I used on this page:📄

1. I use old books to add vintage look. I got an old novel in a yard sale for $2 and use it to add in my sketchbook.

2. I cut out stamps like these from mails and advertisements we get in hardcopy. Its looks cute I think.

3. I pick up some lines from any book or video that I enjoy and would like to preserve in my journal. Generally, I choose something motivating.

I hope you love the full reveal of this sketchbook page 📄

... Read moreHey Lemon8 fam! So many of you loved my previous post on creating collage pages with minimal supplies, and I'm thrilled you're looking for more ways to make your sketchbooks truly aesthetic and Pinterest-worthy. While my last tips focused on mixed media, let's dive into how you can combine simple sketching elements to elevate that aesthetic even further, especially when you're aiming for that 'aesthetic sketches pinterest' vibe. One of the easiest ways to bring an aesthetic touch to your sketchbook is through simple line art and doodles. Think about incorporating elements like delicate floral outlines, abstract shapes, or even minimalist landscapes. For instance, my page often features motifs like "EYES ON THE SKY" or playful clouds, which instantly adds a dreamy, aesthetic quality. You don't need to be a master artist; just focus on clean lines and thoughtful placement. These simple sketches can beautifully complement your collage elements, creating a cohesive and visually pleasing layout. Another fantastic way to boost your page's aesthetic appeal is through creative hand-lettering and typography. As my OCR results hinted, playing with fonts and words can totally transform a page. Instead of just writing down quotes, try varying your lettering styles, adding subtle shadows, or even illustrating key words. Incorporating terms like "OPACAROPHILE" (a lover of sunsets) or "NEPHOPHILIA" (a love for clouds) into your lettering can add a unique, personal touch that perfectly aligns with a serene, nature-inspired aesthetic. This makes your words not just readable, but also an integral part of the art itself. Don't forget how texture and subtle washes can enhance your sketches. Even if you're primarily doing line art, a light wash of watercolor or even coffee dye in the background can add depth and a vintage feel, tying back to the old books and mail cut-outs from my previous tips. For example, a faint wash of blue or grey can make your "painted clouds" really pop. It's all about layering and building up your page to create that rich, curated look. Experiment with different materials you already have – perhaps a bit of tea-stained paper or a light pencil shading can make all the difference. Finally, think about overall composition. When aiming for that Pinterest-worthy aesthetic, consider how all the elements on your page work together. Do your sketches, lettering, and collage pieces flow harmoniously? Sometimes, leaving a bit of white space can be just as impactful as filling the page. Take photos of your work in good lighting, just like you would for Pinterest, to see it through a fresh lens. Remember, an aesthetic sketchbook is a reflection of your unique style and what inspires you. Keep experimenting, and you'll find your own signature look!
