I recently had the most incredible experience at King's Landing in Apopka, FL, and honestly, it instantly became my new favorite spring! This truly is one of Florida’s secret spots, offering the prettiest paddle adventure I’ve ever embarked on. The moment you dip your paddle into the water, you're greeted by crystal-clear, 72-degree spring water that stays refreshingly cool all year round – absolutely perfect for beating the Florida heat. What really makes this place special is the paddle down the emerald run. The water is so super clear that you can see right to the bottom, and in many parts, it’s only knee-deep, which makes for a very serene and easy paddle. We were lucky enough to spot playful otters swimming alongside our kayak, and I even saw some small fish darting around. It felt like exploring a natural aquarium! The highlight for me was navigating through the stunning Emerald Cut; it truly lives up to its name, feeling like a secluded tropical oasis hidden away in Central Florida. The views here are simply gorgeous, making every stroke of the paddle worthwhile. Planning your trip to King’s Landing is crucial, as this gem is popular and for good reason! Based on my experience and what I observed, you definitely want to book your reservation at least a week or two in advance. Seriously, it sells out quickly, especially during the weekends and throughout the summer months. Don't get caught without a spot! You have a few options: you can rent a canoe, kayak, or paddleboard with prices starting around $50, or, a great budget-friendly tip, you can bring your own water vessel for just $10 per person. We brought our own, which was fantastic for flexibility. To fully immerse yourself in the aquatic beauty, don't forget to bring your snorkel gear! Seeing the underwater world up close in such clear water is an amazing bonus. I’d also recommend packing a waterproof bag for your phone and essentials, plenty of water, and sunscreen. Even though you're on the water, the Florida sun can be intense. For families wondering about things to do with kids near Apopka, this is an excellent choice. The calm, shallow waters and the excitement of potentially seeing wildlife make it an engaging and safe adventure for all ages. It's a wonderful way to introduce children to Florida's unique ecosystems. While the main draw is definitely the paddle, the whole experience of being in this natural setting is revitalizing. It's not just a paddle; it’s an opportunity to unplug and reconnect with nature. If you're looking for an amazing adventure this summer, or just a unique thing to do near Apopka, FL, King’s Landing is absolutely it. Keep an eye out for more secret spots like this near the area; Florida has so many hidden treasures waiting to be explored!
