Okay, so I just have to share my latest Fort Lauderdale find: Snyder Park! You might think it’s just another local park, but trust me, it’s a total hidden gem, what some might even call a 'secret park' right here in Ft. Lauderdale. I stumbled upon it looking for a new spot to take my energetic pup, and wow, did it deliver! The absolute main attraction for me (and my dog, obviously!) is the incredible, super large lake. It’s not just a pretty view; it’s a dedicated dog swimming area! My dog absolutely loved splashing around and meeting other furry friends. It’s such a joy to watch them play freely in the water. If you’re a dog parent, you know how rare it is to find such a spacious and welcoming spot for your 'doggo' to swim. Just remember to bring a towel and maybe a water bottle for your pup, especially on those warm Florida days! I'd recommend checking out the designated dog beach area for the easiest access into the water. Beyond the water, Snyder Park boasts some really pretty and awesome trails. Whether you’re into a leisurely stroll to enjoy nature or you're looking for something more challenging, they've got you covered. I saw some folks on what looked like 'pretty extreme bike trails' – so if you're a mountain biking enthusiast, this could be your next adventure! For walkers, the paved paths are perfect for all ages, weaving through lush Florida greenery. It’s a fantastic way to enjoy the tranquil side of Fort Lauderdale. Now, for the really wild part – the wildlife! I was absolutely thrilled (and a little surprised!) to spot actual wild monkeys swinging through the trees. And yes, the rumors are true, there are 'really big lizards' too, sunning themselves on rocks. It adds such an exciting, almost exotic feel to your visit. Keep your eyes peeled, especially near the water and dense foliage, but remember to observe from a respectful distance. It's part of what makes this park so unique compared to other state parks in Fort Lauderdale. And there's even more to explore! Did you know Snyder Park also has a disc golf course? I saw groups enjoying a round while I was there – something I definitely want to try next time. There are also plenty of shaded picnic areas, perfect for a family lunch or a small gathering with friends. The park truly feels like a community hub, offering something for everyone. Overall, this 'super chill, very large park' is a must-visit. It's well-maintained, offers a fantastic escape into nature, and has those unexpected delights like the monkeys and the dog-friendly lake. If you're looking for a great place for outdoor recreation, whether it's with your pet, family, or just for a solo adventure, Snyder Park is absolutely worth your time. Come see why it's become one of my favorite spots in South Florida!
