My lovely king of birds

I've had my Indian Ringneck parrot for years, and let me tell you, their personalities are just incredible! People often ask me what they're like, and I always say they're little bundles of intelligent, mischievous fun. Mine, for example, is incredibly curious and loves to investigate everything. They can be quite vocal, learning to mimic sounds and sometimes even words, which is always a delightful surprise. They're not always cuddly like some birds, but they form strong bonds and show affection in their own unique ways, often through playful nibbles or by perching on your shoulder. They definitely keep you on your toes with their clever antics! Speaking of fun, one of my parrot's absolute favorite things is bath time! He's a true water baby. I usually set up a shallow dish or, on special occasions, a small, bird-safe pool, just like the one in the picture. It's hilarious because he completely transforms into a 'wet green parrot,' shaking his head and spreading his wings to catch every drop. What makes it even funnier is when I add some of his rubber duck toys. He doesn't necessarily interact with them like they're live ducks, but he enjoys pushing them around or just having them float nearby while he splashes. It’s like a little 'duck and parrot' pool party right in our living room! He gets so much enrichment from these sessions; it’s not just about getting clean, but also about play and stimulation. And honestly, when he gets thoroughly soaked, his feathers can look so dishevelled and charmingly wild, almost like he's wearing a funny 'bird with a wig'! It's a look only a parrot parent could love. Regular bathing is so important for their feather health and overall well-being. It helps to remove dust and dander, keeps their feathers in prime condition, and can even help alleviate boredom. I always make sure the water is lukewarm and never force him to bathe. It's all about making it a positive and fun experience. Sometimes he'll just stand in the mist, other times he'll dive in headfirst. Every parrot is different, but finding what they enjoy for their hygiene is key. They thrive on interaction and mental stimulation, so puzzles, foraging toys, and plenty of out-of-cage time are essential.
