We're the ones who might seem sweet on the outside, but inside, there's this weird mix of dreams and dread, especially when it comes to the future. I've always been one to 'look ahead too much,' pouring all my energy into imagining perfect future events. A trip, a new job, even just a weekend plan. I'd be 'saving excitement' for weeks, building it up in my head. But then, when the moment finally arrives, it's like... flat. The magic is gone, and I'm left with this 'stale' feeling, a little disappointed that reality didn't match the fantasy. This makes us a bit 'cryptic,' doesn't it? People might see us planning, excited, but they don't see the internal letdown. It's hard to explain why something you've wanted for so long suddenly feels underwhelming. It's like my joy has 'curdled' before I even get to taste it. I've been trying to understand why I do this. Maybe it's a way to cope with the present, or a fear of not being prepared enough. But it robs me of genuine happiness. I'm learning that setting sky-high, rigid expectations is a recipe for heartbreak. So, what's a 'cryptic cutie' to do? I'm trying to practice mindfulness. Really focusing on the now, appreciating the small, everyday moments instead of just rushing past them to get to the 'good stuff.' It's hard to break the habit of 'saving excitement,' but even tiny steps help. Like truly tasting my morning coffee, or noticing the sky on my walk. I'm also working on tempering my expectations. Instead of picturing a perfect scenario, I try to hold a more open, curious mindset. What could happen, not what should happen. It's about letting go of control a little and embracing spontaneity. Another thing I'm learning is that the anticipation itself can be a beautiful part of the experience, as long as it doesn't overshadow the actual event. We can enjoy the planning, the dreaming, but also remember that the true joy often lies in the unfolding, imperfect reality. And for those of us who carry this internal struggle, it can sometimes impact how we 'GET ALONG WITH EVERYONE.' If I'm frequently let down by my own expectations, I might unknowingly project that disappointment, or seem detached. I'm trying to be more present in conversations, to genuinely listen, and share my feelings more authentically, even the 'curdled' ones. It’s a journey, but I think understanding my 'inner monster' is the first step to taming it and finding more consistent happiness.
