My time in Iceland felt like a fever dream and I would pay it all over again to just go back for a day and night 🇮🇸

Landing in Iceland, the first thing that greeted me was that bright 'WELCOME TO ICELAND' sign. It instantly set the tone for an adventure. After clearing customs, I even spotted the 'dutyfreeiceland' mention, which is always good to know for last-minute souvenirs or essentials. That initial feeling of stepping onto Icelandic soil, knowing a unique journey awaited, was truly exhilarating. For first-timers, I highly recommend soaking in that moment – it’s the gateway to an incredible landscape unlike any other. As my trip concluded, seeing the 'Exit to Iceland' sign at the airport felt bittersweet. It’s a moment that really hits you, making you realize just how much you’ve fallen in love with the country. I remember thinking, 'Do I really have to leave?' If you're planning your own departure, make sure to give yourself plenty of time at Keflavík International Airport. There are some lovely spots for coffee, like a cozy cafe, to reflect on your journey before heading through security. I always like to grab a final Icelandic treat before boarding! My days in Iceland were a whirlwind of breathtaking sights and unique experiences. From the moment I landed, I was captivated. I remember driving through landscapes that looked like another planet, with dark, rocky terrain contrasting beautifully with vibrant sunsets. Of course, no trip to Iceland is complete without experiencing the geothermal pools. Submerging myself in that milky blue water, steam rising around me, felt like pure magic – a true highlight that made me wish I could stay forever. It's definitely the kind of place you won't want to 'exit' too quickly! Reykjavik itself was a delight to explore. Walking along the rainbow-painted path leading to the majestic Hallgrímskirkja church was a memory I cherish. I spent hours wandering its charming streets, popping into quirky shops and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. I even found myself a delicious coffee from a spot like TE & KAFFI, or grabbing a refreshing drink from Joe & The Juice – perfect for warming up or cooling down after a day of exploration. These little urban gems, combined with the dramatic natural beauty, create a perfect balance that makes leaving so hard. What truly makes Iceland a 'fever dream' is the way it blends raw nature with modern comfort. One day you’re chasing the Northern Lights, the next you’re enjoying a gourmet meal in a chic Reykjavik restaurant. It’s this dynamic contrast that makes the 'exit' so hard to face. My advice for anyone visiting is to truly immerse yourself. Don't just see the sights; feel them. Experience the warmth of the hot springs, the crisp air, the unique flavors, and the welcoming culture. By doing so, you’ll understand why, even after seeing that 'Exit to Iceland' sign, you’ll already be planning your return. It’s more than a destination; it’s an experience that stays with you long after you’ve left its shores. I certainly can't wait to go back!
