Marilynn's body was discovered off of a desolate road in Bethel County, Michigan. She was shot once in the back of the head. A few days after her body was discovered, Dennis sent letters to multiple friends and family members trying to justify her death. To his coworker Jan Markowski, he wrote

Dennis had sent a total of seventeen letters going out to Virginia, Iowa and Oklahoma. Marilynn's best friend Ann Dunkel, felt that Dennis had been trying to blame her and Marilynn's many other friends for her death. Three months after Marilynn's murder, Dennis sent numerous copies of a 5,000 word, 13 page letter to attempt to rationalize Marilynn's death. This letter liberally takes from the bible throughout it.

That was the last word to ever be received from Dennis DePue. Within the next week, he would change his name to Hank Queen, move to Dallas, Texas and start over with a Woman named Mary.
