The Hammel House is known to be the most haunted building in Waynesville.
Imagine: After checking in... You're making your way down the hallway with your bags in hand. The lights begin to flicker and you hear whispers. You began to make out what is being said, "Hurry up. They're coming." You turn around to see who is coming or in this case what is coming. No one is there. You start to get the feeling of unease you began to walk faster and then you hear laughter coming from right behind you. You freeze and slowly turn to look behind you... Just as before there is no one there. You notice a cat sitting by the door to your room. You think to yourself... "That's weird. I didn't think pets were allowed." You fumble around and lose eye contact with the cat for a split second to find the key card you had just been given. When you look up the cat is no where in sight. Not even walking anywhere down the hallway. You notice the black cat hair embedded in the carpet by your door. Upon slipping the key card into the door you hear what sounds like children laughing and it is coming from behind your door. You open the door to again, find no one there.
These accounts have all been reported while staying at the Inn. If that isn't enough to make you not want to check in, maybe this will make you think twice.
It is said that a young traveling salesman who arrives at the inn by horse and carriage checks into room 4.However, he never left. A few days after, the inn keeper was said to have sold off the horse and the carriage. Even though there are possible explanations as to why the inn keeper would have sold the horse and the carriage... he confessed to murdering this gentleman on his death bed.
This man is said to be seen in Room 4. Numerous guests have also said they have woken up to a man arguing and throwing things in the room. However, when they go to turn on the lights nothing has been disturbed and there is no one in the room with them.
