Wonky Prescription Sunglasses
Just another day doing what I love — helping people see clearly and play harder!Â
Today I had a client with a pretty unique prescription:
 OD: -6.75
 OS: -2.25
(No CYL in either eye)
Normally, with such a big difference between the two eyes, it’s really tricky to make prescription sports glasses using standard semi-finished lenses. The thickness difference usually causes uneven tinting — one lens ends up darker than the other. Not ideal at all.
But thanks to polarized Polycarbonate semi-finished lenses, we were able to make it work perfectly — no color difference between lenses!Â
She also requested a pink REVO coating and OAR coating, which look amazing and are super functional for outdoor sports.Â
Love solving challenges like this and making sure every pair looks and feels just right.Â

For those with specific visual requirements, finding the right prescription sunglasses can be a challenge. A unique prescription often necessitates specialized lenses to ensure visual clarity and comfort during physical activities. One effective solution is using polarized polycarbonate lenses, which are lighter, impact-resistant, and offer excellent protection against harmful UV rays. These lenses not only reduce glare but also ensure color consistency between lenses, which is crucial when addressing significant refractive discrepancies, such as having -6.75 in one eye and -2.25 in the other. Incorporating additional coatings, like REVO and OAR, can enhance functionality, especially for outdoor sports. REVO coatings provide an extra layer of protection against scratches, while OAR coatings can aid wearers in conditions with varying light intensities. When selecting sports sunglasses, it is essential to consider factors such as lens color, material, and any additional coatings that may improve visual performance. Continuous advancements in lens technology mean that individuals with unique prescriptions no longer have to compromise on style or functionality. Embracing these innovations can help ensure every sports enthusiast sees the world clearly and enjoys their activities to the fullest.
