Using word games and reading practice that highlight these exceptions can build learner confidence and literacy skills. Understanding syllable division and vowel control in words containing 'ch' can also support learners. For example, breaking words into syllables by recognizing vowel-consonant patterns helps with pronunciation and spelling, as hinted by the concept of consonant-le pairing or bossy r syllables taught in phonics.
