When preparing for finals, simplicity is essential to keep your focus sharp during the exam. From my experience, always double-check what’s allowed in the exam hall with your professors or peers – rules can vary widely. Student ID is a must-have to avoid being turned away. I recommend bringing just enough stationery: pens, pencils, an eraser, a calculator if permitted, and a backup set to avoid any surprises. Avoid overpacking; a clutter-free desk reduces stress and distractions. Also, practical items like a water bottle without labels and a jacket or hoodie can make the exam environment more comfortable, especially if the exam hall is cold. Tissues or a handkerchief might come in handy, too! On the flip side, skip smartphones, smartwatches, notes, cheat sheets, or any unauthorized electronics to prevent any risk of disqualification. Loud snacks or anything with wrappers and labels should also be left out to avoid noise and attention. Above all, the mantra is: if you don’t need it to finish the exam, don’t bring it. Staying prepared but minimal helped me stay calm, organized, and focused through finals season.
