When news broke about Shubble and Wilbur, it just hit different, and suddenly, listening to some of those songs felt... off. I totally get it if you're feeling that way too. For me, music is a huge part of my mental health, and realizing that an artist I enjoyed was involved in something so serious made me want to find something new, something that wouldn't bring up those complicated feelings. He can't ruin our music taste, right?
That's why I dove headfirst into finding artists like Lovejoy and creating playlists that replace Wilbur & Lovejoy. I spent hours curating what I genuinely believe are some incredible bands similar to Lovejoy, and honestly, I've discovered some absolute gems along the way!
If you loved Lovejoy's catchy indie-rock vibe, their witty lyrics, or just that overall energetic sound, you're in for a treat. For starters, I've been obsessed with The Happy Fits. Their songs like "A Good Song Never Dies" and the highly searched "Concentrate" have that same infectious energy that just makes you want to dance. They're a fantastic alternative if you're looking for upbeat, feel-good tunes without the baggage. Another band I can't get enough of is Saint Motel. Tracks like "Heart of a Dancer" have a really unique, groovy sound that’s hard to resist.
I also stumbled upon some incredible smaller bands that capture a similar spirit. Polite Fiction offers a fresh take on indie rock. And if you're looking for those more introspective or lyrically rich songs, I’ve found tracks like "Him" and "Sleeping On Trains" by various artists that really resonate. I even put together a playlist specifically for those who miss songs like "Privately Owned Spiral Galaxy" but want to find new artists to support.
Don't forget to explore! On my playlists, you'll also find tracks like "Fomo," "1987," "Say My Name," "Kleptomaniacrow," "Recess," "Scott Street," "Fresh Concrete," and "Heaven Sent is a Coffee Cup." These aren't just random picks; they're songs that, for me, fill that void and offer something fresh and exciting. And yes, there are even tracks like "Abstract (Psychopomp)," "Son-In-Law," "Jason," and "Fight or Flight" that bring a different, yet equally compelling, energy. It's about finding what genuinely makes you happy and feels right.
Finding bands like Lovejoy doesn't mean forgetting about what happened, but it means prioritizing your own well-being and continuing to discover amazing music. It’s a journey, and I hope these playlists and recommendations help you find your next favorite artist. Let's keep exploring and supporting artists who bring positive vibes to our lives!
