Microsoft issued a notice warning system administrators and Office users to rush to update Microsoft 365 to version 16.0.1882 7.20202 or later so that features in the Office Intelligent Services group familiar to many like Read Aloud, Transcribe and Dictate are normally available, because if not updated, these features will stop working after January 2026.

Although these features are common in Word, Outlook, OneNote and PowerPoint are also affected. Microsoft does not delve into what changes have been made. It only says that it is "upgrading server-side systems" to make the features work better and more stable. It is expected to develop Intelligent Services to be smarter and more efficient.

The good news is that there is no immediate update because Microsoft has given you about six months. All features will remain in regular use until January 2026, allowing both administrators and organizations to plan the update in no rush.

In a simple summary, if you don't want the Read Aloud, Transcribe and Dictate features to disappear after January next year, check that your Office is in version 16.0.1882 7.20202 or later.
