Microsoft points the future. Windows doesn't have to click often. Just say it works.
Microsoft recently released a video interview with Pavan Davuluri, the head of the Windows team, talking about the direction of the next version of the operating system, also known by many as Windows 12.

What he emphasizes is that AI will not only be an add-on feature, but will become the core of the system. Computer use in the future will no longer be limited to traditional clicks or typing, because Windows will try to understand what we are doing on the screen and help us make it more fluid.

He said that "voice" input will become another key input, not allergic to a mouse, keyboard, or touchscreen. Imagine that we are typing, painting, or talking to a friend, but can immediately command the computer to do something. The system listens to what we say and interprets it in tandem with what is on the screen, so that the instructions that are made are most consistent with our intentions. It sounds like a personal assistant who really understands the context, not just following the direct instructions.

He also relates that today, AI assistants such as Copilot often run as add-on apps stacked on the operating system, but in the next few years, this kind of AI will become part of Windows, running locally and through the cloud, to give users a continuous experience wherever they are or whatever their device is.

In other words, the future of Windows will not be just an ordinary operating system, but a smart assistant that really understands the commands and intentions of users.
