Last patch says goodbye to Windows 10 🍋

Microsoft released update KB5063842 for Windows 10, which is considered one of the last non-security Update series, before the company officially discontinued Windows 10 support in October 2025.

What changed in KB5063842 (Build 19045.6282)

- Common Controls: Solve some kind of auxiliary letter display problem that appears wrong in the text box.

- Input & Composition: Solve the Chinese IME problem (Chinese Simplified IME) where some characters are displayed as empty boxes.

- Multimedia: Solve mf.dll problem, no redirected webcam detected on Remote Desktop Services (RDS)

- Windows Hello: Undo the erroneous reading of Narrator's "Enhance Facial Recognition Protection" checkbox name.

- Search pane: Untie a preview pane display that may be unusual.

- Family Safety: Solve the problem "Ask to Use" does not work with blocked apps. Now the system approves the normal display.

- Portable Devices: Solve the problem, the ClearStorage Access policy does not work properly.

- Licensing: Added a new feature for Windows 10 Keyless Commercial ESU + Windows 365 users can block outbound traffic to support the Zero Exhaust policy.

- Windows Backup for Organizations (NEW!): Generally enabled. Enterprise Backup and Recovery Support for smoother device migration or upgrade to Windows 11

- Mobile Operator Profiles: Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA) Profile Update

This update KB5063842 is an alternative update. Users can choose to install it or skip it. If interested, they can update it from Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update or download it directly from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Although Windows 10 will not run out of the support phase until October 14, 2025, after this round of updates, no more general patches are expected to come out. Only security updates remain before Microsoft officially shuts down Windows 10.
