Phison confirms SSD not broken because Windows 11 bug 🚨
There was a news story that shocked many Windows 11 users because it was reported that updating KB5063878 and KB5062660 could cause the SSD to crash and damage data, especially on Phison's controller-based SSDs, which sounded a bit scary. Because it came up, it wasn't a small thing.
.
After this news spread, Phison himself rushed out and said, "I know about it. I'm checking it out." It was recently released a test report to Neowin Media that they tried more than 4,500 hours of testing, over 2,200 rounds, but there was no problem that came. Importantly, no partner or user had actually reported that an SSD had broken from this update, which was enough to dampen their hearts.
.
Although the test results do not find anything unusual, Phison reiterated that they have the highest priority on reliability and continue to monitor the situation closely with their partners as well as instructing users that if anyone has to do long data-writing tasks such as transferring large files or cracking compressed files, a heat sink or cooling pad should be installed to help reduce heat, prevent throttling, and keep the SSD running at full capacity for a long time.
.
Simply put, Phison sees the problem as not being the controller, but the environment or use of the user. Because of the heavy testing, the bug does not show up at all. But if anyone really finds it, the company recommends contacting the supporter directly. At least we can be sure that Phison is not neglectful and still find a way to prevent our SSD from experiencing such a shock.
