Microsoft is ambushing a small but useful feature in Windows 11 Preview Build in Dev and Beta Channel. That is, the Internet Speed Test button that appears on Taskbar is more convenient to use. The new button appears in the Network Flyout menu, or a window that bounces when you click on the Wi-Fi / Network icon in the lower right corner of the screen. In addition to the Wi-Fi refresh button, this time the Speed Test button is added immediately.

The method is very simple. If you press the Speed Test button from the Quick Settings page, it will open the Internet speed test page. Or if you right-click the Network icon in the System Tray, you will find the Speed Test shortcut button popping up in the Context Menu with Network Troubleshooter and Network Settings. In other words, it's like a shortcut. No need to search for Speedtest anymore. Just one click is ready to test the internet.

But there is a slight limitation that this button is not actually an app embedded in Windows. It only works as a shortcut on the link to the Bing Speed Test Tool. When you press the button, the system will open the Bing with the Speed Test page. It does not work directly in the machine like the Native App, so many people may feel that it is convenient, but it is not the best.

The feature is still in the trial version. Microsoft may reposition the button before releasing the actual version to the general user. For those who don't want to wait, there are other ways, such as using PowerToys with Run Launcher, which already has a built-in Speed Test module, not opening the browser as well. It's an interesting choice right now.
