The YouTube channel "Geekerwan" tested the iPhone 17 Pro Max against previous years' chips like the A18 Pro and A17 Pro in gaming, where he tried AAA games like Resident Evil 4 Remake, Death Stranding and Assassin's Creed Mirage. The result was obviously stronger than each other. The frame rate was up to 69%.

The reason why the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are doing so much better is not just the stronger A19 Pro chip, but because Apple switched the material from titanium to aluminum with vapor chamber cooling system, making the machine handle heat much better, resulting in a chip that can push the power higher without being reduced in mid-way performance. Unlike previous models, when the hot machine has to lower the speed, the frame rate is not very stable.

If you look at the numbers, Resident Evil 4 Remake on A19 Pro averages 52FPS, while A18 Pro is around 33FPS and A17 Pro is only 31FPS. Death Stranding dropped 47FPS from the A19 Pro, but its predecessor played less than 30FPS. It's called a different level. Assassin's Creed Mirage is almost half as strong. Even though it's not 60FPS yet, it's faster than ever.

In total, this upgrade has made the iPhone 17 Pro Series a lot more serious mobile than before. The power of the A19 Pro chip, paired with better cooling, has led Apple to move closer and closer to the word "AAA-gaming smartphone." Anyone who wants to play big games on their mobile phone is definitely not disappointed.
